Paint

Here's Dad busy pariming the siding. I think it could be a full time job! We are working on the east side of the house and are about done caulking and priming.
The paint crew (David and Dale) came in and painted the ceilings yesterday. I originally bought a color which was too yellow so back to Portland I went to buy "Dover White."
I am debating on the outside color of the house. I am leaning toward the color on the right.

Getting dirty

We have been caulking and priming the siding the past few days while David is getting the porches ready for concrete. This evening the kids bathed in the primer. Quite a site! No pictures though, I was sticky with caulk so I was not going to touch my camera!

We're hungry

I looked out my bedroom window this morning and this is what I saw... Three hungry horses. Apparently we did not feed them early enough
so they were letting us know.

Siding

David has been working long hours on the siding, look at the progress he has made! He has had some help from friends and the kids have helped a bunch. The siding will be painted as you can see some of it has already been primed. I have been busy with the last of the tax returns for 2005 (extensions are due today) and catching up with plumbing book work. Last week was Vacation Bible School so not much got done in the office!

More drywall

The drywallers put the first coat of mud on the walls. It looks nice in the house, I'm hoping the inside of the house will be ready for paint while my dad is here. If not, there's plenty of other work to do! We listed our house with an agent the other day. I hope to get the yard cleaned up with Dad, he does such a nice job. We have always joked that we should put our house on the market after Dad has been here since it always looks so nice. Well, this time we're doing just that!

Michelle's a saddle winner!

Michelle finished up the summer game show series at Strobel's Arena yesterday. She had a super night racing, winning all three events on Rupert (the paint horse).

They have been knocking down poles during the season but were able to run "clean" patterns and run them quick last night. She got some good times on Cherokee also.

She was very surprised to win, entering last night's race fourteen points behind first place. When Rosanne announced her name she yelled out "you're not serious!" Then tears came to her eyes as fast as laughter came to her face. She ended up winning a buckle for high point in the poles, the saddle for overall high point, a saddle pad and a halter and lead rope. The pad, halter and lead rope were the fifth place prize she won on Cherokee.

Drywall, day 3

I stopped by to check on the drywall progress. What a surprise to find it almost all hung. The only walls left to drywall are in the garage.

These pictures are of the kitchen and the family room (the ceiling with the vault is the family room). The french doors go out to the covered patio in the back yard. The closet with the angled walls is the pantry in the corner of the kitchen and the refridgerator will go next to that. We're getting ready to paint! Hurry up drywall mud!

Girls' rooms

Here are the colors for each girl's room. Susannah's is the purple and Michelle's is the pink. Richard wants the most disgusting color green and he wants the paint to be dark. We are all working on his decorating abilities. Keep you fingers crossed.

A Saturday ride

Michelle had a game show last weekend and I decided to play along with her. We had some fun turning barrels and weaving poles. The game show series Michelle is running in will conclude next Thursday. She has been knocking down a few poles on Rupert but is running fast times. (I told her to slow down a 1/2 second and maybe she'll won't hit the poles, doub't she will listen.) Cherokee is coming along well. Last weekend he tied for first in one of the events, go pony go! Have you noticed, my Spot rides horses with spots?

Drywall, day 2

The crew came out today and began hanging drywall today. All the cielings are done and the kids' side of the house is almost completed. David called about 8:30 this morning to tell Susannah her room was the first to be completed. Richard began whining that HIS should have been first since it's smaller therefore quicker to finish! David is elated that he no longer has to look at the roughed in walls. The kids are standing in thier respective rooms and the other picture is the playroom. I was worried about the amount of natural light coming into the house. I thought it was a bit dark but after the drywall went up the light was able to reflect off the walls and all the rooms are much brighter.

Best of all NO MORE CHANGES OR ADDITIONS! (For how long?)

We are loaded

The drywall and supplies arrived Wednesday (8/2). We are excited to be moving onto a new stage in our construction project.

Granite!

This is the granite I chose for the counters in the kitchen. I am meeting with the installer today to pick out the actual slabs. Fun, Fun.
