Up in Smoke

We have been burning for the past two weekends. The piles of wood that have been on the property for the past ten years are finally going, along with the ten years of blackberry growth. Mom and Dad don't have to worry there are still acres and acres of blackberry bushes left. They can get berries for many years before we finally get rid of all of them. Actually, I don't think it is possible to get rid of all the blackberry bushes if you live up here! David arms himself with his super duty weed eater then goes into the "jungle" for a perimiter cut. We then pull the blackberry vines out of these piles then put them on the fire. After we have pulled all the cut vines we call David back in for another perimiter cut. I kepp saying ther has to be an easier way! This is a workout, if you are tired of your workout plan, come on out we'll be glad to provide an alternative!

The kids are doning a great job helping out. Every once in a while Susannah says she hates this property and does not want to move. I then reminder her she could share a room with her sister for the rest of her life! She quickly gets back to work after that. Last weekend we had a hard worker competition and the winner got to choose where we went for dinner. Susannah won and chose Varsity Bar and Grill for dinner. Varsity is a new restaurant in Scappoose and has great food, it is now one of our family favorites.
